Media player built with Qt library, requires K-Lite Codec Pack or other similar Codec Pack to play beyond a few types of media.
As far as I can tell, the last thing anyone needs is another media player. So I made one of my own.
I made this project primarily as an exploration into the capability of Qt's QMediaPlayer functionality. Since it relies on the platform's video codecs, you'll need to install a codec pack, such as K-Lite Codec Pack, to get full capability of playing videos without issue.
It can load and save playlists, or load and play individual media items; loop, shuffle, or play sequentially; and it comes with a "night light" toggle mode to make the UI colors darker and more free of blue tones.
Supported types of media are: .wmv .gif .mp4 .avi .mp3 .webm .m4a .wav (there may be other types that are technically possible to play through Unnecessary Media Player, but can't be loaded due to the restrictions I placed on file types; I only allowed out of a group of standard media types I could verify as working)
Version: 1.0
Compatibility: Windows
Play videos or music, create, load, and play playlists.
You can load Unnecessary Media Player on its own and then load media into it. You can also manually open media files with Unnecessary Media Player through the Windows right-click > Open With menu and then set Unnecessary Media Player as the default for that type of media, allowing you to double-clip media files to open them in Unnecessary Media Player.
You may be wondering, "Why would I use this when there are a bajillion media players you can use on Windows, including default media players that come with the platform, like windows media player?"
I will offer some reasons below:
